The Red-Green Alliance Won the US Midterm Elections

A few years ago, most Americans had never heard of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Today, the DSA is no longer a fringe campus organization. It is becoming an increasingly powerful force inside the Democratic Party, and anyone dismissing it as a temporary fad is making a catastrophic mistake.

The 2026 midterm elections were a historic victory for the movement. At least five nationally endorsed DSA candidates won seats in the House, more than tripling the organization’s membership in Congress. The DSA itself claims more than 120,000 members and says its chapters supported successful candidates and ballot initiatives across the country. OPB

Five congressional seats may appear insignificant in a nation of more than 330 million people.

They are not.

This is how political takeovers develop: not overnight, but city by city, primary by primary and institution by institution. Each victory produces staff members, donors, organizers and candidates for the next election. Today’s five representatives become tomorrow’s influential congressional bloc.

The DSA is not hiding its direction. Following the election, it celebrated the largest socialist bloc in congressional history and openly called for an arms embargo against Israel, abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement and replacing President Donald Trump’s policies with socialism.

The organization does not yet control the Democratic Party. But it is positioning itself to inherit it.

This did not begin with the DSA

What Americans are witnessing is the long-term consequence of ideological subversion that began decades ago.

In the 1980s, former KGB propagandist Yuri Bezmenov warned Americans that the Soviet Union’s greatest weapon was not military invasion. It was the gradual demoralization of American society through education, culture, media and political institutions.

The objective was to separate Americans from their national identity, religious faith and confidence in their own civilization. Once enough citizens were taught that their country was inherently evil, its institutions irredeemably oppressive and its traditions obstacles to “justice,” they would participate in dismantling their own society.

Bezmenov explained that this process could eventually become extremely difficult to reverse. Even when confronted with evidence, a demoralized population might no longer possess the intellectual or moral framework necessary to recognize reality.

The DSA rise represents the political harvest of precisely the ideological subversion Bezmenov described.

Generations of Americans have been taught to view capitalism as exploitation, patriotism as bigotry, borders as oppression, religion as backwardness and the Western democratic order as something that must be dismantled.

That brings us to the second half of the coalition.

The red-green alliance

The radical Left and Islamist movements disagree profoundly about women, religious freedom, sexuality and individual rights.

Yet they share an enemy: the Western nation-state and the Judeo-Christian civilization upon which it was built.

The red side seeks to dismantle America in the name of revolution, decolonization and “social justice.” The green side seeks to expand Islamic political and cultural power in the name of jihad.

“Palestine” provides the bridge between them.

That is why anti-Israel activism has become such a powerful organizing force within the socialist movement. Israel represents everything the red-green alliance opposes: national identity, religious faith, military strength, historical continuity and a people refusing to apologize for defending its homeland.

Jews should pay very close attention.

I warned about this in 2018

In November 2018, I wrote an article titled “Jew Hatred Today! This Professor Says It Best.”

My message was simple: Jew-hatred comes from the radical Left, the radical Right and Islamist movements. Antisemites do not need a legitimate reason to hate Jews. They simply adapt their Jew-hatred to the ideology of the moment.

I also warned American Jews not to assume that their country’s unprecedented openness and safety would last forever.

I called the postwar period the “post-Holocaust bubble.” For several decades, open Jew-hatred became socially unacceptable because Western civilization had witnessed where it could lead.

That bubble has burst.

I wrote then that life for American Jews would become increasingly uncomfortable and dangerous. I urged Jews to stop assuming that America was somehow immune to the historical forces that had transformed other societies.

Eight years later, the warning is even more urgent.

The political movement gaining influence inside the Democratic Party includes candidates and activists who demand an end to American military support for Israel, condemn the Jewish state as an oppressor and participate in a broader ideological movement that increasingly treats Zionism as inherently illegitimate. Representatives on both sides of the political aisle blame US woes on Israel and the Jews.

American Jews who believe their “progressive” credentials will protect them are repeating one of the oldest mistakes in Jewish history.

When the ideological revolution advances, it will not distinguish between the “good” anti-Zionist Jew and the proud Zionist for long.

Is America’s decline inevitable?

I am not yet ready to say Kaddish for America.

America still contains millions of proud, faithful and patriotic citizens. It retains strong institutions, extraordinary economic power and communities prepared to defend the constitutional order.

But Americans must understand how late the hour has become.

If the DSA, the jihadi Muslims and their ideological partners continue capturing universities, city governments, congressional districts and the infrastructure of the Democratic Party, this transformation will become increasingly difficult to reverse through ordinary elections.

One defeat will not stop them. One Republican victory will not dismantle the institutions they have spent decades building. They think generationally, and their opponents usually think only about the next election.

The red-green alliance won far more than several congressional seats in these midterms.

It demonstrated that socialism and anti-Israel radicalism can now function as successful national political brands. It expanded its organizing infrastructure, strengthened its congressional foothold and moved another step closer to controlling one of America’s two major parties.

That is the real victory.

The Jewish response

For American Jews, the answer cannot be another public-relations campaign seeking sympathy from people determined to view Israel as evil.

Strengthen your Jewish identity. Educate your children. Encourage them to study and Israel and experience daily life living as a Jew in our God-given, indigenous, ancestral homeland. Defend yourselves politically and physically. And recognize the extraordinary blessing of living in a generation in which the Jewish people have returned to sovereignty in our ancestral homeland.

Israel has challenges, enemies and internal divisions. But in Israel, Jews possess something our ancestors lacked for 2,000 years: the ability to defend ourselves as a people while living in a proud Jewish society with a calendar of Jewish holidays.

America is not yet lost.

But nobody can claim that it was not warned.

Bezmenov warned America in the 1980s. The Muslim Brotherhood described its long-term strategy in 1991. The transformation of Western Europe is demonstrating what happens when political leaders ignore ideological threats for decades.

And now the DSA’s electoral victories are showing Americans what may come next.

Don’t say Kaddish for America yet.

But unless Americans rediscover their faith, national identity and determination to defend their civilization, the day when we do have to say Kaddish for America may arrive far sooner than anyone wants to believe.
