On Tuesday at noon, a combined terrorist attack took place at the Gush Etzion Junction in Judea, south of Jerusalem.

Two terrorists first rammed their vehicle into civilians waiting at the intersection. They then exited the car armed with knives and attempted to stab additional people.

A reservist from Reserve Battalion 7491 of the Etzion Brigade who was guarding at the junction neutralized the terrorists. One of the terrorists who got out of the vehicle tried to stab the troops – and was neutralized at close range. Security forces located explosive devices in the terrorists’ vehicle.

Magen David Adom (MDA) medics and paramedics, together with an IDF medical team, pronounced a 30-year-old Israeli man dead at the scene after he was stabbed.

Three other victims were evacuated to hospitals in Jerusalem:

  • A 40-year-old woman in serious condition
  • A 30-year-old man in moderate condition with stab wounds
  • A 15-year-old boy in moderate condition with stab wounds

Senior MDA medic Itzik Itach described the scene: “When I arrived, it was a very difficult sight. Several injured people were lying on the ground with injuries of varying severity. We had to pronounce a man around 30 years old dead at the scene. We gave initial treatment to a woman around 40 in serious condition and to a man around 30 and a boy around 15, both in moderate condition, and evacuated them to Shaare Zedek and Hadassah Ein Kerem hospitals.”

The terrorists’ identities are still under investigation – the emerging assessment: one of the terrorists is from the Hebron area, the other from the Ephraim region. The IDF is closing off the villages and the entrance to Hebron for fear of escape attempts.
