The conservative movement in the United States is going through some serious soul searching these days. One of the central issues that it is grappling with is how far it should go in terms of being based on the ideas of America First. Many are trying to drag the conservative movement to a place of America Only and not America First. This may seem like a semantic difference. It is much greater than it seems. It comes down to whether or not the United States will take the issue of dealing with border control to the extreme and adopt ideas of isolationism regarding the rest of the world.
Charlie Kirk directly says that he will never ‘build a big tent’ with Nick Fuentes:

Isolationism is based on a deep distrust of the ability of the United States to influence the actions of the rest of the world. This is understandable based on the terrible cost that the United States paid in lives in the battles against Communism. The Korean War and especially the Vietnam War remain heavily in the minds of the older generation of Americans, while the Iraqi War is in the minds of younger and older Americans.
The problem is that both have largely forgotten about the lessons to be learned from World War II. It was American isolationism that led to the years-long delay in American involvement in World War II. Hitler and the Nazi war machine should have been stopped way before the Nazi invasion of Poland. Years before ther German invasion of Russia, Churchill was imploring Franklin Roosevelt to help save Europe and the Free World. But FDR was facing an American electorate that was very isolationist following the terrible cost of World War I.
It was only after the attack on Pearl Harbor that the American spirit to defend itself arose. Until then, FDR simply did not have enough support to make the fateful move of entering the war against Japan and Germany. There are limits to how much economic support can make the difference in such a massive military onslaught. American funds indeed made the difference for England and Russia. But it was the American GI’s who made the ultimate difference. Once Germany was fighting a two front war, the tide turned and the Free World was saved.
If America decides to turn inward and ignore the threats across the Atlantic and Pacific, it will have a rude awakening one day. It will be forced to realize that when China and Russia unify along with other bad actors such as Iran and Qatar, the safety of Americans in America is threatened.
Aircraft carriers across the Pacific, near Europe and in the Mediterranean are the #1 thing that insure world peace. America is absolutely the policeman of the world. If the conservative movement makes the mistake of going to the extreme in prioritizing building a wall and turns the wall into a policy of ignoring international threats, then the entire world will become dangerous very quickly.
