Despite the bravado and bluster, most observers still believe Israel will balk and defer to the Biden administration before any attack on Iran.
There are two reasons for this. The first is that this is an extremely inexperienced Israeli government and it over thinks almost every move it makes before it does it. While attacking Iran may seem appropriate to many, Bennett’s government is very unsure of itself and lacks the leadership to make tough decisions.
The second reason is that there are 100,000 Hezbollah rockets and missiles aimed at Israel that can literally pommel Israel into submission. If Israel strikes Iran, you better believe it that these will be used.
These two reasons make it far harder to believe that Bennett will order a strike. However, there is one bid reason he may do so – Bibi Netanyahu. Naftali Bennett wants to show all of Israel that he is in fact the real leader who did something Bibi never had the guts to do. If Bennett orders the strike for this reason.
