Violent demonstrations have begun sweeping the bedouin communities in the Negev, supposedly over the planting of a new forest in the desert.

In the past, the intifada has been associated with arabs occupying Judea and Samaria, the bedouins have been involved with land theft in the Negev for almost as much time as the arabs. The latest violence is especially alarming, because it has been instigated by members of the coalition who belong to the Muslim Brotherhood associated Raam party.

Mansour Abbas has threatened to leave the coalition unless Bennett orders a halt to the planting. So far that has not happened. Abbas has answered by stirring up violent protests over the new forest.

For Abbas he does not need the coalition anymore. He got he budget he wanted and now he can break Bennett’s coalition, becoming the hero once again for the arab street.

Bennett will try to use his tough stance on the forest to win him some votes back from the right.

All of the maneuvering misses the real issue, the Bedouin Intifada may have already begun.
